How I'm learning to balance work and life

A shift in the paradigm

As all y'all know, I've been busting my butt for going on seven years now, getting my business up and running, surviving and thriving.

THANK YOU.  The amount of gratitude I feel is overwhelming.

However, it's time for me to start re-establishing some balance in my life.  I have a lot of long-term goals that I'd like to accomplish, including further education to help me grow as a therapist.  There's also this Greg guy that has been patient and supportive, and I'd kinda like to hang out with him a little more.

As my business has evolved, so has my hands-on practice.  As I continue to move further into the world of rehabilitative bodywork, I am finding that longer sessions allow me to do more of the kind of work I want to do.  Therefore, as of mid-June, I will be focusing almost exclusively on sessions that are an hour and a half or longer.

How this will look

Current clients, fear not!  I will remain available for hour-long sessions, but by request only.  I will be removing myself from online booking next Monday except for hour and a half sessions and will have a more regimented schedule.  (Two hour clients, you guys'll need to contact me directly as well.)

The plan thus far is to try the new schedule through the end of September.  Depending on how things go, I may or may not open myself for a wider variety of appointments during mud season.  We'll see how it goes.

And then there were three!
As part of my Evil Master Plan(TM), I've asked Chelsea to increase her available hours with me.  She's agreed, so those of you who are content with hour-long sessions will have a wider range of time to see her.

Continuing with the excitement, I've just asked a new therapist, Rachel Slagh (and her little bird, too!), to join our team!  Rachel graduated from my alma mater and had her own massage business in Denver before relocating to our beloved mountain town in December.  She brings a wide variety of skills with her, from deep tissue to lymphatic drainage to cranial-sacral work and more.  I am absolutely thrilled that she'll be affiliated with us, starting later this month.

Evening cruiser rides!
In an effort to drop some weight, strengthen the muscles around my knees, and improve my cardio, I hereby announce the beginning of Wednesday night cruiser rides!

Here's the gist:  meet at my office, slather on the provided sunscreen, and head out to wander the core trail via bike.

This is a kid-friendly activity geared towards people who want to work on improving their health without having to go the uber-fit Steamboat mountain lifestyle route.  I haven't been on a bike much in mumbledy-odd years, so we're aiming for folks with a similar (read: minimal) level of cardiovascular fitness and a desire for socialization.

(And wine.  There might be wine involved.  Or other adult beverages.  No judgment.)

Rides will last approximately an hour, depending on how everyone's feeling.  I'm a little unsure how well this will all work, as I don't handle heat well, but I'd like to give it a shot.

Start date:  Wednesday, June 22
Time:  6:30-7:30ish
Starting location:  Heartfire Massage, 410 S. Lincoln Ave

Follow me on my Heartfire Massage Facebook page to keep up-to-date on the cruiser rides.

Thank you, forever and sincerely
Once again, my gratitude to all of you who have helped me build my practice, who have helped me learn and inspired me to learn even more.  I am so excited about the direction my practice is taking, and so very eager to share my good fortune with these two skilled, talented women.

Besides, they're just as goofy as I am.  What's not to love?

When not doing massage, Erica can often be found doing yoga, chasing goats, or puttering in the kitchen.  On occasion, these activities have been known to overlap.
