The Heartfire Difference

What sets us apart from other massage therapists?
Hey Sista, Soul Sista . . . Lemme hear y' flow, Sista
Rather than stick with any one type of massage in a session (Swedish, neuromuscular, etc.), we prefer to blend modalities. This allows us to customize the massage to our client’s needs, whatever they are that day. We often combine specific, orthopedic work with broad-spectrum relaxation techniques. This allows us to enjoy a lot of variety, both in regards to the type of work we do and the kind of clients we see.
The names of most types of massage don’t mean much to most people, but there is one notable exception: deep tissue. A lot of clients request it, but many others are a bit skittish, having been hurt in the past by an unskilled therapist. It is important to note that deep tissue does not necessarily mean deep pressure. Hippocrates once stated that “Hard pressure binds and soft pressure loosens,” and this is very true. We do not beat up on clients, risking their health and ours, simply because that is what they are used to.
The Devil is in the Details
The other big difference that sets us apart? We listen. We ask questions. We usually spend 10-15 minutes with a new client before starting the session, figuring out exactly what is wanted in the session--pressure, areas to be worked on, lots of technical work or more hooking into the flow and relaxation.

Commitment to clients
We endeavor to serve the best interests of our clients at all times and to provide the highest quality service possible. We shall give you the best of our focus and care, will respect your concerns at all time, and do what we can to alleviate your pain, tension, and stress. This is your time.
Heartfire Massage respects all clients regardless of age, race, gender, national origin, sexual or gender orientation, religion, socio-economic status, body type, political affiliation, or state of health. We are all someone's son or daughter; we are all deserving of love and respect.
We do not wear any perfumes out of respect to clients with allergies or sensitivities. We use unscented massage lotions and creams that are nut- and cruelty-free.
Philosophy
We don’t "fix" people. We cannot heal anyone, or “make” them better. It’s not up to us. Massage is a partnership, and the best we can do is make suggestions to the body; all we do is open a door. It’s up to the client’s body whether or not it will respond.
However, we are damn good at what we do, and we love doing it. The human body is fascinating and we enjoy learning as much as we can about it, then delight in sharing that knowledge: education and involvement are key in the road to healing.
Heartfire Massage is also committed to the environment. We recycle whenever possible, including office papers, water bottles, and lotion containers. We use glass instead of disposable cups, high-efficiency light bulbs, and invest in local products when possible.
